Moving Over Keeps Responders Safe

We have all seen emergency personnel by the side of the road. Tow trucks, ambulances, fire trucks, and law enforcement. We’ve even been stuck in a slow-moving line that passes such vehicles. But passing slowly by the scene of an accident is just for close looks, it also happens to be the law, but unfortunately one that many motorists are unaware of.

Every state in the U.S. has Move Over Laws, including New York. These laws are designed to protect emergency responders operating on the side of the road. Such laws require motorists to change lanes or slow down whenever they see emergency vehicles by the side of the highway. Many motorists are unaware of such laws, however, which is why our staff members want to spread the word.

At Ontario Mazda, we value our emergency service personnel, so help us reduce the risks by adhering to move over laws. Together we can make everyone safe in the Canandaigua, NY area.
