Mazda CX-9 earns high marks for safety

The Mazda CX-9 has added to its impressive list of awards after the nonprofit Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded it a "Good" rating. The rating is the organizations highest award.

The IIHS reported the Mazda CX-9 excelled in collision and occupancy protection. It also passed the IIHS's new headlight test with its LED lighting which comes standard on the Mazda CX-9. Its automatic emergency braking capability was also rated as "Good." Available on the Mazda CX-9 are both Smart City Brake Support for low-speed emergency braking and Smart Brake Support, a radar based system for highway speeds.

It has also earned Strategic Vision's Total Quality Award as the top midsize crossover SUV in its class. The Strategic Vision's review praised the Mazda CX-9 for meeting and exceeding owner expectations by providing a premium driving and passenger experience. It was also praised for its turbocharged SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine and an interior that includes Nappa leather, real aluminum trim and rosewood supplied by premium Japanese guitar-maker Fujigen.

The Mazda CX-9 has already earned awards from Car and Driver. It was named to its 10 Best Trucks and SUVs and was on the Ward's Automotive list of the 10 Best Interiors and 10 Best Engines. It has also earned Strategic Vision's Total Quality Award as the top midsize crossover SUV in its class.
